On Gear Live: 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Review

Alec Baldwin Alec Baldwin wants out of 30 Rock, but it’s unclear if he can get out of his contract with NBC. After his angry ranting voicemail message to his 11-year-old daughter was leaked last week, a lot of people were left with a bad taste about Baldwin. He taped an interview for The View which will air on Friday, apologizing for the way he spoke to his daughter: “Obviously calling your child a pig or anything else is improper and inappropriate and I apologize to my daughter for that. There’s nothing wrong with being frustrated or angry about the situation,” Baldwin said. “It’s the way you do it, and as people often do in this world, I took it out on the wrong person.” Apologies aside, Baldwin also said that he wants NBC to release him from his 30 Rock contract to spare castmates from any repercussions for his behavior, saying, “If I never acted again I couldn’t care less. I would like to devote myself to the cause of parental alienation.” Baldwin is writing a book to shed light on the subject, which he says was the reason for the angry message. If he is cut loose from his contract, what impact will his departure will have on 30 Rock? For many people, his character made the show; it’s hard to imagine anyone else filling his shoes.

Rosie O'Donnell The rumblings about Rosie O’Donnell leaving The View finally became a reality this morning when she announced the news on the daytime talk show. The outspoken co-host will be leaving the show in June, just one year after she blew in to fill Star Jones’ vacant seat. According to O’Donnell, she and ABC could not come to a contract agreement—they wanted her to remain on the show for three years, but she only wanted to stick around for one more. Fear not, she will show up from time to time during the next season, at least for an autism special, if not on other occasions. O’Donnell said, “It just didn’t work, and that’s show biz. But it’s not sad because I loved it here and I love you guys and I’m not going away.” While I’m sure Barbara Walters, Joy and Elisabeth are letting out a collective sigh—since O’Donnell turned things upside with her penchant for speaking her mind—it’s unclear how this will impact ratings. When Rosie came on board, ratings took a major upswing. With her departure, who knows? Walters commented, “We have had, to say the least, an interesting year.”

David Letterman In one of those rare talk show appearances, Letterman will grace the stage of Live with Regis & Kelly for Reege’s triumphant return following heart surgery. Letterman’s guest appearance shows his continuing friendship with Regis, who filled in when Letterman was out with shingles in 2003. Regis was also the first guest booked on Late Night after Letterman returned from a quintuple-bypass surgery. Regis returns to his gabfest on Thursday, just six weeks after a triple-bypass heart surgery. Their ticker problems are not all the hosts have in common—they also share a doctor, since Dr. O. Wayne Isom performed both of their surgeries. Philbin’s return seems speedy, but it’s likely that fans have been missing him after the multitude of fill-in hosts. Regis returns just in time for May sweeps… after all, the show must go on!

Sanjaya MalakarSanjaya Malakar, recently eliminated American Idol contestant, is off to a post-Idol adventure that might be even harder than dealing with Simon once a week: he’s going to the White House. Just don’t get President Bush started on foreign policy – who knows what sort of drama that might cause? Malakar will attend the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this weekend as the guest of People magazine. Huge stars like John Cusack, Jane Fonda, and Sheryl Crow will also be in attendance. What are the odds that anyone will ask to hear him sing with Sheryl in the room? President Bush, Henry Kissinger, A-list movie stars…and Sanjaya Malakar. Yah, that makes perfect sense. But, Sanjaya won’t stay in the capital city for long – he’s got media to do. The Idol star of the week will appear on the Late Show, Live With Regis and Kelly, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show next week. As for his future musical plans, Sanjaya said in an interview he’d like to attend the prestigious Berklee School of Music. The chairwoman of Berklee’s Vocal Department, Jan Shapiro, said to the Boston Herald that Sanjaya is “real cute, but not much of a singer.” Time for Plan B. Who knows? Maybe Bush will have another opening in his Cabinet soon…and from what I hear, Dick Chaney is still looking for a new hunting buddy.

Leah ReminiIf you need a Leah Remini fix, look no further than MSN in May. She is, of course, on the verge of signing off from The King of Queens, after nine years on the air. Remini will appear in a webisode series about motherhood, with the story lines submitted by real-life moms. In the Motherhood begins May 11th on MSN at http://www.inthemotherhood.com. Over the course of five episodes, three women friends (who are moms) reveal their “ever-hectic but always humorous” lives. The webisodes are the result of visitor nominations for the best entries that have been submitted, including worst public meltdown and funniest potty training story. But that’s not all—the webisodes can also be seen on Suave and Sprint, as well as on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Each episode is just five minutes, so (while I’m not a big Remini fan), it may be worth a look.

Rachael Ray OK, there’s no disputing that Rachael Ray is a do-gooder. And in this case, she helped a high school where eight students and the school were lost in a tornado on March 1st. Not only did she plan the meal and help prepare it, but she also paid for the prom for Enterprise High School in Alabama. She filmed the whole thing and will air it on the April 30th episode of her talk show. “The students of Enterprise High are so courageous, given all that they’ve gone through,” said Ray. “When I heard about what happened to their school and classmates, we wanted to help.” And that’s not all—Mandy Moore showed up to sing three songs at the end of the shindig. The memory of their fallen classmates was not forgotten, as they displayed pictures of the students and honored them. Still, students found it hard to celebrate, with one senior commenting, “It makes it a little harder for me. I’m used to all of them being around.”

Dina Lohan Lindsay LohanYikes, is Rosie O’Donnell at it again? This time, Dina Lohan (Lindsay’s mom) was scheduled to be a guest on this morning’s The View, but Rosie put the kibosh on it. O’Donnell apparently is no fan of mama Lohan’s mothering skills. Of course, there was bound to be talk of little Linds, who just finished her rehab, and Dina’s image as a “party mom.” O’Donnell was outspoken (naturally) on Wednesday’s show about an interview that Dina had done with Harper’s Bazaar, in which she said “I’m not the party mom!” despite recounting club hopping outings with Lindsay. The producers took notice of O’Donnell’s criticisms and The View issued a statement saying, “Dina Lohan was booked to appear this morning on The View, but, at the discretion of the producers, the booking was canceled.” O’Donnell is adding to her list of enemies, for sure.

David Letterman Today’s Late Show with David Letterman will have something different—an absent host. Letterman came into work for a taping of the show earlier today, but had to leave because of a stomach bug. What to do when your host is sick? In this case, the show looked no further than one of the guests—Adam Sandler. That’s showbiz, folks. The show must go on, even if your fearless leader is throwing up elsewhere. Luckily, he had already taped Wednesday’s show and is being pre-empted on Thursday and Friday for NCAA basketball. Question is, does Sandler deliver in a pinch? I know I’ll be tuning in to find out. OK, you caught me—I go to bed before Letterman comes on, so I’ll DVR it for another day.

EllenApparently there are no limitations to talk show host overexposure.  And since Oprah has the magazine, book promotion, TV movies and satellite radio markets covered—Ellen Degeneres was forced to go a different route:  Greeting cards.

Fans of Ellen who need more than a daily fix of cutesy will now have 32 specially designed greetings to choose from.  Each card will feature illustrations of the comedianne along with her trademark humorous quips.

Look for the cards in the American Greetings aisle of your local pharmacy starting this summer.
